Clues To Go   -   Garstang to Longridge, via the Forest of Bowland

Garstang, located just west of the M6 but a million miles away from the hustle of the motorway, makes a good starting point for this route that takes in a corner of the rolling Forest of Bowland before concluding at Longridge, northeast of Preston.

After locating the answers to the first few questions on foot amongst the old coaching inns & alleyways off the High St. of Garstang, you drive under the motorway and into the Forest of Bowland. This area is so named  not because it is covered in woodland (much of it is moorland) but because it was once a royal hunting ground. Halfway through the route you visit Chipping, in the Trough of Bowland, where the scenery turns into pastures & farmland. After enjoying all these pleasant vistas, you complete the route in Longridge
