Clues To Go    -    Poole Quayside

Poole harbour front received new sea defence walls in 2001 and with it came a redevelopment of the Quayside for leasure use. The Quay road is lined with a mixture of very old, atmospheric pubs, excellent restaurants and modern bars interspersed with museums and shops.

The Old Town behind the Quayside has been well preserved, both on the High Street & the Market Street behind, with the fine old Guildhall that is now the registry office.

The route starts at the East end of the Quay road, close to the old lifeboat station. Then the walk heads westwards, past the yacht marina, along the smart promenade that runs parallel with the Quay road, as far as the Old Customs House and then turns inland down Thames Street towards St James church. The final part of the route takes in Church St & Market St, finishing at the Guildhall.

This route is suitable for all - familes, friends or work colleagues wishing to spend a few hours on an afternoon or evening exploring the quayside & old town area of Poole. Maybe finish off comparing answers in one of the pubs, cafes, restaurants or bars in the area.
