Clues To Go    -     Edinburgh's Royal Mile - Cryptic

This Clues To Go route starts at Bank Street, where Lawnmarket meets the High St. on the Royal Mile, & finishes at Holyrood. The route is all downhill.

The questions are a little more testing & cryptic than those on the other 3 Clues To Go routes on the Royal Mile.

The 'Royal Mile' supposedly was once used to measure one Scottish Mile, which was 10% longer than an English mile.

There are 15 ancient public houses along the Royal Mile, each with its own fascinating history. These include the World's End, the Tolbooth Tavern, the Jenny Ha & Deacon Brodie's.

Leading off the main streets are a multitude of Closes & Courts - each with its own story to tell.

If you are coming from outside the city by train, then you will probably alight at Waverley Station, by Princes Street. Its then a 20 minute walk to the start of the route, with an  up-hill climb from Princes St Gardens to the Castle.

Car parks for the Castle, Princes St & Holyrood are signposted as you approach.
